WOW-E hosted a Youth Summit in McAllen, Texas in July 2022. The Youth Summit is an interactive and engaging opportunity for youth ages 13-17 to learn how to apply PSE work, assess their communities, propose change through appropriate leadership channels, and design a local project to kick start PSE work focusing on connecting everyday places or improving access to healthy foods within their communities.
WOW-E hosted a Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) and Maintenance Action Institute in August 2022. Through the CPTED Action Institute, attendees learned how to use CPTED to design, maintain, and program local parks and open spaces.
In December 2022, the City of Roma pilot tested a bike lane on Athens Street to make it safer for residents to bike to everyday destinations along the route. The City of Roma’s Planning Department, Public Works Department, Police Department, Fire & EMS, Mayor, and local residents worked together to make this project possible.
The City of Eagle Pass worked with WOW-E to conduct a pop up demonstration around their local high school to make it safer for pedestrians to walk and bike.
