AARP Community Challenge

“The AARP Community Challenge provides small grants to fund quick-action projects that can help communities become more livable for people of all ages. This year, applications will be accepted for projects to improve public spaces, housing, transportation and civic engagement; support diversity, equity and inclusion; build engagement for programs under new federal laws; and pursue innovative ideas that support people age 50 or older. “

State Farm Neighborhood Assist

“With more submissions and more grants, State Farm Neighborhood Assist® is going bigger on building stronger neighborhoods together in 2022. In celebration of the 100th anniversary of State Farm®, we’re awarding 100 $25,000 grants (vs. 40 grants in previous years) to causes making a difference in their communities.”

Grant Opportunity: (RISE) Rural Innovation Stronger Economy Grant

What does this program do?

The Rural Innovation Stronger Economy (RISE) Grant Program offers grant assistance to create and augment high-wage jobs, accelerate the formation of new businesses, support industry clusters and maximize the use of local productive assets in eligible low-income rural areas.

Who may apply?

Eligible applicants are rural jobs accelerator partnerships with expertise in delivering economic and job training programs, consisting of the following:

  • Non-profit entities
  • State entities
  • Tribal entities
  • Institutions of higher education
  • Public bodies

Grant Opportunity: Rural Public Health Workforce Training Network Program

The purpose of this program is to expand public health capacity by supporting health care job development, training and placement in rural and tribal communities. The expected impact of this program is to enhance clinical and operational capacity in order to adequately address the population health needs of rural communities affected by COVID-19, including those dealing with the effects of long COVID1. The RPHWTN program addresses the ongoing critical need in health care facilities for trained public health professionals serving rural communities.

Eligible Applicants include:

  • Special district governments
  • Private institutions of higher education
  • Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized)
  • County governments
  • Independent school districts
  • City or township governments
  • Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
  • State governments
  • Native American tribal organizations (other than Federally recognized tribal governments)
  • Public and State controlled institutions of higher education

America’s Healthy Food Financing Initiative

The America’s Healthy Food Financing Initiative (HFFI) is offering $20,000-$200,000 grant awards. The funding aims to improve access to healthy foods in underserved areas. The Working on Wellness Environments team can provide basic grant writing technical assistance to anyone interested in applying!
There are 2 parts to the application. 

  • First phase: submit a Letter of Interest by Tuesday, December 7, 2021 
  • Second phase: eligible applications submit a full application

Reinvestment Fund, in its capacity as National Fund Manager for the Healthy Food Financing Initiative at USDA Rural Business-Cooperative Service, requests applications for America’s Healthy Food Financing Initiative Targeted Small Grants Program for 2021. At least $4 million is available for grants for innovative fresh food retail and food system enterprises that seek to improve access to healthy food in underserved areas. Grant awards may be from $20,000 – $200,000. Eligible applicants include for-profit, nonprofit, and cooperatively owned businesses, institutions of higher education, state and local governments and tribal governments. LOI Due: December 7.
